To dye for!

Well, at least the camera gods are smiling on me. I FOUND the camera. Without having to tell the SO that it MIGHT be lost. Phew!

So, that said, I did a little dyeing recently. Some Knit Picks sock yarn and {gasp} my unspun alpaca roving. Eh, I've had it for over a year so maybe this will motivate me to spin it into something useful. Or sell-able. I just used kool-aid and easter egg dyes, nothing too difficult or fancy, but now that I see the possibilities, I'm totally hooked.
The alpaca roving

And the Knit Picks sock yarn

Very fun, and not nearly as hard as I thought.

I've been working on the Diamond Fantasy Shawl, but since I've been tinking it's not really progress. I'm about 1 row away from the start of the second chart (for the second time through) and then I will humbly install a lifeline. I'm not really sure what happened, since I was flying thru it pretty quickly, but somewhere I went wrong, and since I've only been able to tink 1 row at a time per sitting, it's taken me several days to undo about 6 rows. Hopefully I'll be moving forward again soon.

We got to spend some time outdoors this weekend, even if it wasn't up north. We went to a graduation party on Saturday, and Sunday we spent the day on the lake with the family. The best part? Watching the sun set on a beautiful day.
The chitlins: My SO and daughter
They're bad pics cuz once again just the camera phone, but you get the idea.
It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day!

Almost Friday..

Corset T? Cabled Tank top? Not so much.

Diamond Fantasy Shawl?
Yeah baby!! Can't find the camera at the moment, so this is all you get. Colors are not even close really, but I slid the blocking wires in for a quick peak at the shape, and here you go. I'm really enjoying the pattern. 6 repeats make the "scarf" which is perfect for the malabrigio yardage, and blocking severely per the instructions should wield a big enough shawl for my liking. Hopefully I'll get some serious quiet time this weekend and can knock this baby out. Wish me luck!

Pictures!!

I still have possession of the camera, so I managed to snap a few photos this morning. I took some pics of some super cool birthday presents I got so here they are.

First of all, my SO picked up on my very obvious hints the last time we were shopping for motorcross gear for his son and he decided a Fox Racing knittingbag was the only acceptable way for me to carry my knitting to and fro.
And of course, the hints I had really dropped was on the everyday purse, since I don't own a white purse and I thought it was really cute so he also got me this:
Oh honey, what a surprise!! lol

And check this out.
Uh, no, I didn't get socks as a present. I got these: Fancy-shmancy sock blockers. No more wire hangers!!! And for my regular sushi fixes I got this:

Amby got me the super-duper sock blockers and Amanda gave me the gorgeously perfect sushi set for 2!! You two are awesome, thanks soooo much!!

I got money from the in-laws and money from my parents, music from the kids and my sister got me a super cute card and lip gloss that goes perfectly with my tan!! Color me happy, this was a great birthday!
And, look what else I've been doing:

NOT killing my flowers or tomato plants! Who knew? Fresh salsa anyone?
I meant to take pics of my WIPs but oh yeah, I forgot. Sorry guys!
Have a great weekend, I'll be up at the lake working on my tan!!

Wow, 7-11, Where has the time gone?

Ok, I want to update my blog more frequently, but given the crackdown of personal computer time at the prison, I mean my job, time is limited. Of course I don't have a computer at home, I'm on one all day. No computer, no phone, no way!!

I've been knitting. I've had a birthday. Oh yeah, and the lawn mower is broken again. Such is my life. I'm clearly not meant for yard work.

I'm almost finished with the Corset T. I'm experimenting with incorporating the detail from the neckline to the bottom of the corset, to spice it up a bit. It will involve kitchener-ing the whole thing together, so wish me luck-it's 199 stitches. But, if I pull it off, I think it will look really cool, and Annie will appreciate the deviation from her pattern. I can never just do it the "right" way, gotta add my touch to it.

The cable tank is on hold, since it requires size 5's which are currently in use on the corset t. I got tired of switching back and forth, and the corset t is a little fun-ner to work on at the moment. The cotton ease for the tank is ok, but with the cables it seems to take forever.

Sorry for my absence, but the boss-man thinks I should WORK the whole time I'm here, and we're having issues with his idea vs. mine. He can pay his nephew to be an absolute idiot, and a burden to everyone, but if I take a few mental/computer breaks thru-out my day, ALERT THE MEDIA-we have a slacker! Whatever.

Miss you guys, I'll try to do better. Oh yeah, and I'll try to take some pictures one of these days....
